This expedition voyage takes you into the Arctic waters around Spitsbergen and combines nature observation, shore landings and an accompanying educational programme on the region’s environment, history and wildlife. The journey begins in Longyearbyen on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, from where you travel aboard the expedition vessel MS Sea Spirit into remote fjords, along glacier fronts and, depending on ice and weather conditions, into areas near the pack ice edge. Zodiac landings and guided excursions allow exploration ashore as well as wildlife observation from an appropriate distance. Experienced expedition leaders provide background information on the Arctic’s natural and cultural landscapes. The voyage combines practical activities in the field with comfortable life on board and comprehensive organisation, including transfers and selected services before and after the sea journey. The route and daily programme are adapted flexibly to current conditions; specific destinations and wildlife encounters therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Wildlife of the High Arctic:
During the voyage, depending on route, season and conditions, there are opportunities to observe Arctic wildlife in its natural habitat. Sightings of individual species cannot be guaranteed and are made from a suitable distance.

Life on board:
You travel aboard the expedition vessel MS Sea Spirit and stay in your selected cabin category. Between daily landings and Zodiac excursions, there is time to relax as well as to attend lectures and educational programmes on the region’s wildlife, geology and environment. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, as is a 24-hour water, tea and coffee station. Satellite Wi-Fi is available on a limited basis. Welcome and farewell drinks are also provided. For shore activities, you receive a weatherproof expedition parka to keep, a reusable water bottle and sturdy rubber boots (Muck Boots) on loan. A digital travel log documents the course of the expedition.
