'‘’Greenland Journey of Discovery: The itinerary'‘’
'‘'Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavík’
Welcome to Reykjavík, the lively capital of Iceland! After your arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in the city. Reykjavík is known for its impressive architecture, including the striking Hallgrímskirkja, which towers high above the city. Take the opportunity to explore the charming streets with their colorful houses or enjoy the delicious Nordic cuisine in one of the many restaurants. In the evening we meet in the harbor, where our specially designed expedition ship awaits us. After a mandatory safety drill, enjoy a celebratory dinner and toast with a glass of champagne as we make our way along the centuries-old Viking sea routes to Greenland.
'‘'Day 2: Crossing the Denmark Strait’
Today we continue our journey along the Denmark Strait, just as the Norse explorers once did. The days at sea are always exciting and varied. Numerous activities await you on board that appeal to body, mind and soul. Take part in informative lectures by our expedition experts in the theater, where you can learn all about the local history, wildlife and geology. Relax with a massage in the Albatros Polar Spa or enjoy the view of the gliding seabirds from one of the whirlpools as we glide across the Denmark Strait on our ship. This maritime journey will give you unforgettable impressions.

'‘'Day 3: Tasiilaq, East Greenland’
Our first port of call in Greenland is Tasiilaq, the largest settlement on the east coast. In contrast to the west coast, which has had continuous contact with Europe since the 1700s, the east coast remained largely untouched until 1894. Here you can experience the ancient culture of the Tunumiit (East Greenlanders) at first hand. Traditional customs are strong and Tasiilaq is famous for its artisans who carve exquisite tupilaat (shaman figurines) from horn and bone. The town is located in a perfect natural bay and offers plenty of opportunities for exploration, including excellent hiking trails such as the Flower Valley, which is easily accessible. Visit the local museum, located in the old church, and enjoy performances by the church choir in the modern church. Also take a look at the talented artists who create beautiful pieces from local materials. The impressive landscape and Tunumiit culture will leave a lasting impression on you.
'‘'Day 4: Ikateq and Kuummiut, East Greenland’
In the morning we sail towards Ikateq, a spectacular fjord with a fascinating history. During the Second World War, the Americans built an air base here, which served as an important base for flights between Europe and North America. The harsh landscape made the approaches to the base dangerous and the Americans invested enormous resources in the construction of the facility. The base was abandoned after the war, but many relics have been preserved to this day and provide a unique insight into this turbulent time. In the afternoon, we visit the small village of Kuummiut, which lies in the tranquil surroundings of the Ammassalik Fjord. Here you will experience traditional life in an East Greenlandic settlement, where time moves more slowly and the villagers earn their living by fishing and hunting. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the fjords and the passing icebergs and experience the warm hospitality of the locals.
'‘'Day 5: Sermilik, East Greenland’
We cross the impressive Sermilikfjord, which separates Ammassalik from the main island of Greenland. This fjord is known for its huge icebergs, which originate here from the Helheim Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in Greenland. We can go ashore to admire the untouched nature or take a Zodiac tour through the icebergs and experience the impressive ice formations up close. Be sure to capture the breathtaking beauty of this unique area while we are surrounded by nature.
'‘'Day 6: Skjoldungen, South Greenland’
Our adventure takes us to the majestic Skjoldungen, a breathtakingly beautiful fjord on the south-east coast of Greenland. Surrounded by rugged, jagged mountains and glistening glaciers, this place offers a spectacular backdrop. Here you can take part in a hike through the blossoming valleys and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. In centuries past, this area was visited by nomadic Inuit groups, and the archaeological findings prove a long history. Have your camera ready as we sail through these picturesque surroundings and enjoy the beauty of nature to the full.
'‘'Day 7: Prins Christian Sund and Aappilattoq’
We set our course through the Prins Christian Sund, one of the most spectacular waterways in the world. This 60-kilometer passage is flanked by majestic mountains jutting straight out of the water and is renowned for its unspoiled beauty. In the afternoon we reach the idyllic village of Aappilattoq, where life moves at a quieter pace. Here you can explore the stunning scenery and experience traditional Greenlandic culture while meeting the friendly locals and admiring their art and craftsmanship.
'‘'Day 8: Qassiarsuk and Itilleq Kujalleq’
Early in the morning, we sail through the picturesque Tunulliarfik Fjord towards Itilleq. This region is known for its mild climate and lush green meadows lined with small sheep farms. After arriving in Itilleq, we take a hike to the village of Igaliku, where we visit the remains of the former bishop's seat of Garðar. This site has a fascinating history and was once a place of great power and influence. In the afternoon we continue our journey to Qassiarsuk, the historic site of Erik the Red, where you can admire the reconstructions of his farm and the first church in America. The rich history and beautiful scenery make this place an unforgettable experience.
'‘'Day 9: At sea, on the way to Nuuk’
From South Greenland, we follow the rugged coastline of the world's largest island northwards. During our day at sea, keep an eye out for whales and other sea creatures that are common in these rich waters. Enjoy the tranquillity and majesty of the Arctic sea as we make our way to the next stage of our journey.
'‘'Day 10: Nuuk, the capital of Greenland’
In Nuuk, the lively capital of Greenland, you can expect a mixture of modern skyscrapers and traditional wooden houses. Explore the city, which offers a wealth of experiences, including the National Museum, which provides fascinating insights into Greenlandic history. Visit the city's cultural institutions, enjoy the gastronomy and stroll through the charming streets as you soak up the unique atmosphere of this extraordinary city. Nuuk has its own special charm and there is plenty to discover.
'‘'Day 11: Kangaamiut and Evighedsfjorden’
On our last full day, we will visit the picturesque village of Kangaamiut, where traditional life still thrives. Here you will have the opportunity to experience the local customs and traditions and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the fjord. In the afternoon, we sail into the depths of Evighedsfjorden, where we can admire the majestic glaciers and impressive nature. Keep an eye out for wildlife sightings and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remote region.
'‘'Day 12: Kangerlussuaq, disembarkation’
During the night we sail up the impressive Kangerlussuaq Fjord. After a last breakfast together on board, we say goodbye to the crew and our fellow travelers before we go ashore in the Zodiac. Kangerlussuaq is known for its military history and its function as an important air transportation hub. While the town offers fewer cultural traditions, the surrounding nature is breathtaking and invites exploration. Your Arctic adventure ends at the modern airport terminal as you return home with unforgettable memories of this unique journey.
