Sail & Ski Norway in Lyngen Alps

This combined sailing and ski tour takes you to northern Norway, into the fjord landscape of the Lyngen Alps, a mountainous region above the Arctic Circle. You will be active both on the water and on skis, sailing to secluded bays and anchorages. From these locations, you will embark on ski tours in open terrain, moving through a varied landscape of fjords, islands, glaciers, and snow-covered peaks. The region’s summits rise from sea level to around 1,800 metres. Route selection depends on weather and snow conditions. Many slopes are moderate, between roughly 25 and 30 degrees, while steeper terrain may include sections of up to around 40 degrees. Conditions between mid-March and early May are often suitable for ski touring but may naturally vary. All skiing takes place in open terrain rather than on prepared ski slopes. The trip is conducted with a small group of up to six guests and a professional mountain guide, allowing for flexible daily planning and personal attention.

Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Tromsø Airport, you will be met and transferred to the harbour. After checking in on board, you will settle into your cabin and, if needed, collect pre-booked equipment. The skipper and mountain guide will provide a safety and programme briefing. The sailing vessel then departs the harbour and heads to the first anchorage in the surrounding fjords. The day concludes with a shared dinner.

Day 2 - 7: Ski & Sail
Each day begins with breakfast and a group discussion, taking into account weather, snow, and safety conditions. From the anchorages, you will set out on ski tours in open terrain. The tours typically last several hours each day. An experienced, certified mountain guide accompanies the group, providing guidance on route selection and technique. Upon returning to the boat, snacks and time to relax are provided before the evening meal. Between locations, the vessel sails for one to three hours depending on distance and conditions, offering views of the fjord coastline and surrounding mountains.

Day 8: Departure
After a final breakfast together, the boat returns to the harbour at Tromsø, and you disembark in the morning. This marks the end of the official programme. Your onward travel is arranged individually, allowing you to plan transfers to the airport or your accommodation according to your own schedule and preferences.

Additional Information The trip accommodates a maximum of six guests, ensuring comfort, personal attention from the crew, and efficient use of on-board facilities. Small group size also allows flexible planning and smooth boarding and disembarking, maximising time on land. Meals and snacks are freshly prepared on board and enjoyed together. Arrival times at the airport on the first day should be coordinated separately.
