Winter trip to Swedish Lapland: the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
After your arrival at Vilhelmina Airport, you will collect your luggage and receive a warm welcome. A pick-up from Umeå airport is also possible for an extra charge. During the drive to the mountains, you will already have the opportunity to admire the beautiful untouched landscape that will accompany you in the coming days. Check into your comfortable hotel room in the mountain village of Klimpfjäll. Enjoy a delicious, home-cooked 3-course meal in the rustic hotel restaurant and round off the day in this cosy atmosphere. Look forward to a restful night at the Klimpfjäll mountain hotel so that you are well rested for the adventures ahead.
Day 2: Exploration tour and arrival at the nature camp
The second day begins with a hearty breakfast while you enjoy the view of the adjacent Kultsjön lake. After checking out of the hotel, you will receive an introduction to the week's program in the hotel lobby. Now the adventure begins! Lean back on a special sledge trailer pulled by a snowmobile and set off on your first exploration tour through the village of Klimpfjäll to the breathtaking viewpoint "K2". There you have the opportunity to get a bird's eye view of the entire village and the magnificient natural surroundings. Enjoy a traditional Swedish fika in this wonderful setting. After a short stop at the hotel for a hearty lunch, you continue to the nature camp on the other side of the lake. Here you can expect an introduction to the use of the camp, followed by a lovingly prepared dinner in a cosy barbecue hut. At the end of the day, you can relax in a sauna with a view of the lake if you wish. From tonight, you will sleep in a tipi tent based on Sami traditions and make yourself comfortable on reindeer furs and woven carpets.

Day 3: Fatmomakke: visit the church village with Sami history
Today is all about the fascinating Sami culture! Get ready to experience the origins of Sami culture, the Sami way of life and traditions up close. Take a tour of Fatmomakke (Faepmie), an 18th century church village that is considered a spiritual and multicultural meeting place in the Swedish north. Learn more about the history of the Sami people, taste typical Sami snacks and visit a real Sami kåta. After this educational excursion, you will be taken back to the camp, where you can end the day with a relaxing sauna session with a view of the lake and a dinner prepared in the grill kåta.
Day 4: Snowmobile tour into the mountains
After a hearty breakfast, one of the highlights of your trip is on the program today: an exciting snowmobile tour into the mountains. Experience the high-performance machines and drive through the beautiful winter wonderland. Your guide will show you the best viewpoints and hidden places in the Klimpfjäll mountains. Enjoy the rugged nature and feel how the problems of everyday life fade into oblivion in the majestic surroundings. On this day, you will also eat your lunch over a fire in the open air. After spending the day in nature, you check back into the mountain hotel in the afternoon, where another delicious 3-course dinner awaits you. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the Northern Lights after dark, as an unexpected appearance of the magical lights could happen at any time.
Day 5: Departure
Start your last day with breakfast before packing your bags. You will then be taken back to Vilhelmina Airport (or Umeå, for an extra charge). With many new memories and adventures, you will start your journey home and will hopefully be able to talk about these unforgettable experiences for a long time to come.
Accommodation:
During your stay, you will spend the nights in a combination of a hotel and a unique nature camp at the foot of Kultsjön. The Klimpfjäll mountain hotel offers you comfortable hotel rooms with all amenities. The highlights, however, are the overnight stays in the nature camp, where you sleep authentically on traditionally woven carpets and reindeer furs in a large tipi tent for up to 10 people. This is shared accommodation, so no single or double rooms are possible. There is a fireplace in the tent (the same one used by NATO, which guarantees warm nights without having to add firewood) and you have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Swedish barbecue hut as well as soothing sauna sessions and snow baths.
Note:
To drive a snowmobile yourself, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. People under the age of 18 can only take part in this trip if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
