A very special adventure awaits you today: after your husky tour, you will spend the night in a lava tent, which you will set up in a picturesque spot in the middle of the mountains. Equipped with a small stove and reindeer skins, you will enjoy the cozy atmosphere in the tent and your last evening in the wilderness. Here you can experience the silence of nature up close and watch the clear starry sky. With a bit of luck, the magical Northern Lights will dance high above your head. It is a unique feeling to sleep under the open sky and feel the connection to nature. The shared meal and stories by the stove make this an unforgettable evening.

Once you arrive at the camp, you thank your dogs with plenty of cuddles before relaxing a little and then preparing a delicious dinner together. On this last evening, you can reflect on the experiences of the past few days and look forward to a last restful night in northern Norway.
Day 8: Departure
On the last day of your unforgettable husky tour, you will enjoy breakfast together before it is time to say goodbye. After breakfast, you will be taken to Tromsø Airport, from where you will start your journey home. Your luggage will not only contain your personal belongings, but also many wonderful memories of a tour through the wilderness that you will not soon forget.
Accommodation:
The accommodations during the tour are simple but cozy wilderness huts without electricity or running water, which are equipped with wood stoves for warmth and cooking. These are shared rooms, so separate bedrooms are not possible. There is a toilet outside, you have to walk a few meters to get there. You set up the lava tent for the last night together in a beautiful spot in the middle of the mountains. It offers a unique experience and direct contact with nature and is heated with a small stove and you sleep on reindeer skins. You will have another tent with you for the entire tour in case of an emergency, should you not be able to reach the next hut due to the weather or other adverse conditions. For this wilderness tour, therefore, please bring the necessary flexibility and openness to adapt the routes and overnight stays to the respective conditions.
The Oksfjordhjem base camp is located in the middle of nature with an incredible view of the mountains. This is where you will spend the first and last night of your stay. There are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with three single beds. You share the bathroom with the other guests. There is an equipped kitchen, a living room with a fireplace and TV, wifi is available.
Requirements:
A very good level of fitness is required for this trip, as very low temperatures and harsh conditions (wind, snow, ice, cold) can prevail. You will also have to perform physical work and the active cooperation of each participant is required. For example, you should be able to hold on to the sled at starts and stops when the dogs want to run off, help the dogs on uphill terrain by pushing the sled and also lend a hand in the camp. You are expected to take the initiative and play an active role. The work on the way (looking after the dogs, cooking etc.) is carried out collectively. The amount of luggage you can take with you on the wilderness tour is limited, you'll get a bag for it with the rest of your equipment.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
