Fascinating Lapland: the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will be welcomed at the airport or train station in Kiruna and taken in a minibus directly to the cozy lodge, which will be your starting point for the winter adventures of the next few days (journey time: 15 min, shorter from train station). Move into your cozy room and get settled in unhurriedly before meeting the team on site and receiving your arctic outerwear. In the evening, a 3-course dinner awaits you and you can relax in the outdoor hot tub. With a bit of luck, the fascinating Northern Lights will dance above you. Meals start with dinner today and end with breakfast on the departure day.

Day 2: On a dog sled through Lapland
Look forward to your breakfast with a magnificent view of the snow-covered mountains all around. Afterwards, let yourself be driven through this beautiful landscape on a dog sled. The guide will steer the sled and you as a passenger can enjoy the view of the wilderness around you. Take a short break on the way and enjoy a Swedish "fika" by the crackling fire in a tipi (3-4 people/sled; total duration: approx. 3 h).
After the dog sledding you continue to an artistically crafted ice hotel. There you can enjoy a classic Swedish buffet and marvel at the spectacular individual art suites designed by leading artists from all over the world. Afterwards, how about a cocktail in the unique ice glasses at the ice bar?
The day ends with another highlight: You will be served dinner in a tipi next to the lodge before driving up to the summit of Mt. Ednamvarri with snowmobiles (2 persons per snowmobile, you can take turns driving), from where you will have a magnificent 360-degree view over the mountain range, far away from any light pollution. Keep your eyes open for the Northern Lights! Your guide will bring a camera and take photos throughout the evening as a wonderful souvenir of your time in the far north (total duration: approx. 4-5 h).
Day 3: View over Lapland by snowmobile
After breakfast, enjoy a snowmobile safari where you share a snowmobile in pairs and take turns driving. This half-day tour through Lapland takes you to the edge of the Arctic tundra and past the tree line to a unique viewpoint that offers fantastic views over the untouched Arctic wilderness. You take a short break on a frozen lake, where you make coffee over a crackling fire and enjoy a Swedish fika. Here you also have the opportunity to try your hand at traditional ice fishing (total duration: approx. 5 h).
Back at the lodge, you can eat lunch before spending the rest of the day at leisure. Relax with a book and a hot drink in the cozy lounge, visit the sauna or take snowshoes or cross-country skis (free of charge) to explore the area a little more on your own.
There is one last item on the agenda for tonight: Your guide will carefully check the weather and Northern Lights forecasts and select the best spots for viewing them, which you will head to together after dinner. Depending on the conditions, you will travel by minibus, drive to higher mountain areas on snowmobiles, or put on your snowshoes for a walk. With a bit of luck and clear skies, you’ll be treated to one last glimpse of the Northern Lights before heading home tomorrow.
Day 4: Departure
After a final breakfast, it's time to say goodbye and you will be taken back to the airport or train station in Kiruna. There you will start your journey home, hopefully with many memories of the incomparable experiences of the last few days and a few enchanting Northern Lights photos in your luggage.
Accommodation:
During your trip, you will stay in a beautifully situated lodge on the outskirts of the town of Kiruna in Swedish Lapland with direct access to untouched Arctic nature. The lodge is small and family-run and offers a very warm, cozy and peaceful stay.
It has seven double rooms, each with a loft and private bathroom. There is also an inviting open plan lounge with a fireplace and comfortable chairs to sit back and relax with a drink, as well as a relaxation area with sauna and an outdoor hot tub. All meals are served in a dining room next to the lounge. Wifi is available.
You can use snowshoes and cross-country skis at the lodge at any time free of charge and make your own tour through the beautiful winter landscape.
Note:
To drive a snowmobile yourself, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
