Aurora adventure trip in Yellowknife: the itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Yellowknife
After arriving in Yellowknife, you will be taken to your hotel. There, you will check into your room and prepare for the adventures ahead. In the evening, your first Northern Lights hunt is on the agenda. Along the way, you can enjoy delicious Canadian maple cookies and hot chocolate. Learn more about the magical Auroras and the night sky, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as wolves, foxes, and bears as you travel from place to place. Finally, your comfortable hotel room awaits you for a restful night.
Day 2: Yellowknife City Tour & magical Northern Lights
This morning, you will be picked up from your hotel for a two-hour city sightseeing tour. This will take you through the various neighborhoods of Yellowknife, including the historic Old Town. Hear personal stories from the indigenous guide and discover the best restaurants and souvenir shops. After a stop for hot chocolate and a visit to the "Welcome to Yellowknife" sign, you will visit the Legislative Assembly and the Prince of Wales Museum Heritage Centre. You can spend the rest of the day as you wish before heading out again in the evening to search for the Northern Lights.

Day 3: Indigenous dog sledding
In the late morning, you will be taken to a husky farm, where you can get to know and pet the dogs, and take pictures with them. Then, you will settle down comfortably in the front of the sled, and your guide will get ready to steer you through the white winter wilderness of Canada. Off you go, racing through nature at speeds of up to 30 km/h. Afterward, you warm up in a traditional trapper's cabin and eat delicious bannock (a type of flatbread) with hot drinks while the guides tell you about the role of the dogs in indigenous culture. After about 2 hours you will return to your hotel. Another Northern Lights safari is planned for tonight.
Day 4: Free day for optional adventures
This day is free for you to explore Yellowknife at your own pace. Relax or take part in an optional activity for an additional charge. Experience the Northern Lights once again, listen to stories of an indigenous guide or learn more about the mining heritage. All options can be found under "Extras". Participants of the 6-day trip will once again be hunting for the Northern Lights.
Day 5: Free day or departure
Those who have booked a 6-day trip can prepare for another day in Yellowknife. Take it easy or book optional activities again to round off your stay. How about a tour to the ice road, a nature hike or a Dene culture workshop? Design the day entirely according to your own ideas!
For everyone else, it's time to say goodbye today. You check out of your hotel and a shuttle will take you to the airport so that you can continue your journey from there.
Day 6: Farewell to Yellowknife
Unfortunately, today is the departure day of the 6-day tour. You check out and are taken to the airport by shuttle. Let's remember the many wonderful memories of your adventures with the Auroras, nature and the fascinating indigenous population once again. We wish you a pleasant journey!

Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
