Citizen Science Laboratory
On board the MS Seaventure, there is a dedicated Citizen Science Laboratory, forming an integral part of the expedition experience. This special science centre gives guests the opportunity to go far beyond standard lectures and actively contribute to real research projects. As part of the Citizen Science programme, passengers work alongside the expedition team to collect, observe and analyse data that supports ongoing scientific studies in the polar regions. Projects vary by destination and season but typically include observations of cloud patterns, seabirds, or oceanic microorganisms, all of which provide valuable long-term data for understanding Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems. No prior scientific experience is required: guests are guided through the methods and shown how to contribute to important data sets. This transforms the expedition into an active, educational and meaningful experience, allowing participants to engage directly in current environmental research rather than just observe it.
