Spitsbergen, Greenland, Iceland - Three Islands of the Arctic: The Itinerary for 2025
Day 1: Arrival in Helsinki
On the first day of your trip, you arrive in Helsinki. Perhaps you have some time to explore the city and visit some museums or relax in a Finnish sauna. The travel package begins with a hotel overnight stay. You check into the hotel in Helsinki and spend this first night in the Finnish capital.
Day 2: Travel to Longyearbyen and Embarkation
After breakfast, a transfer takes you to the airport, where you will fly to Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, embarkation takes place, and you settle into a cozy cabin on the expedition ship. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and beautiful nature. As you enjoy dinner, you reflect on this day and look forward to the adventures ahead.
Day 3-6: Spitsbergen
You start the day with a hearty breakfast as you explore Spitsbergen, the northernmost island of Norway. Keep an eye out for wild animals such as polar bears, walruses, reindeer, and numerous bird species. Marvel at the blooming tundra or impressive glaciers majestically passing by. Landings with the Zodiacs give you the opportunity to admire the beauty of the landscapes up close and immerse yourself in them. Your adventure begins here well beyond the Arctic Circle.
Day 7-8: At Sea on the Way to Greenland
On the way to Greenland, you have various ways to pass the time. The expedition team provides you with exciting lectures and information about the nature and history of Greenland. On deck, you learn to recognize different seabird species. From the outer deck, keep an eye out for more marine life or enjoy a cocktail at the bar. The anticipation for Greenland grows, and unforgettable adventures lie ahead.
Day 9-12: East Greenland
During your expedition in East Greenland, Zodiacs take you ashore - your chance to explore the incredible nature of Greenland and experience it on hikes. With some luck, you may spot musk oxen and other inhabitants of this Arctic tundra. The highlight is the passage through the Scoresbysund. Here, you will encounter not only breathtaking icebergs but also the most beautiful fjord system on our planet. From the outer deck, you have an incredible view of the passing landscape. If conditions allow, you will also visit Ittoqqortoormiit, the most remote settlement in East Greenland. Wherever you go, East Greenland will enchant you, and there is so much to discover. Not only nature lovers but also history enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy here.
Day 13-14: At Sea towards Iceland
Heading south through the Denmark Strait towards Iceland. On these days, the expedition team continues to hold lectures on the Arctic and many exciting related topics. From the outer deck, observe seabirds and enjoy the vastness of the sea.
Day 15: Disembarkation in Reykjavik, Iceland
After one last breakfast on board, it is unfortunately time to say goodbye. In the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, you disembark and this journey ends with a transfer, if you have booked accommodation in the city center of Reykjavik. This trip comes to an end with countless memories, but perhaps you will embark on new adventures from here.
Travel Information for 2024
The itinerary for the 2024 trip will be in reverse order as described, starting from Reykjavik in Iceland towards Greenland and then Spitsbergen. The travel package will begin with an overnight stay in Reykjavik. Embarkation will take place on the second day of the trip, and disembarkation on the 15th day followed by the flight to Helsinki. The travel package will end with a flight from Longyearbyen to Helsinki.
Arrival:
2025: The travel package begins with an overnight stay at a hotel in Helsinki and ends with a transfer to the city center of Reykjavik. The price includes accommodation in Helsinki with breakfast, as well as the transfer to the airport and the flight from Helsinki to Longyearbyen. Additionally, the transfer to the ship in Spitsbergen and from the ship to the city center in Iceland is included.
2024: The travel package begins with an overnight stay at a hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland, and ends with the flight from Longyearbyen to Helsinki. The price includes accommodation in Reykjavik and the transfer to the ship. Also included is the transfer from the ship to the airport in Longyearbyen on the last day and the flight to Helsinki.
Please note that only breakfast is included in the hotel overnight stay.
