Weekend trip with Huskies and Northern Lights

Treat yourself to an eventful getaway in the far north and experience the natural wonders this region has to offer! Join an adventurous husky sled ride and explore the area on your own with Sami skis. On a night-time snowshoe hike, if the sky is clear, not only will the stars be shining above you, but with the right conditions, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Treat yourself to two-course dinners featuring local delicacies in the evenings, and take time in between for rest and relaxation.

Weekend trip with Huskies and Northern Lights: The Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
Once you arrive at Umeå Airport or Vindeln train station, there will be someone waiting to warmly welcome you. A transfer will take you in just over an hour to the lodge where your adventure begins (shorter from Vindeln). There you will check into your comfortable rooms or cottages and end the day with a delicious dinner. Meals are provided from dinner on the first day until breakfast on the last day.

Day 2: Husky tour through the Swedish winter landscape
After a nice long breakfast you will go on an approximately three-hour husky sled tour through the Swedish wilderness. Meet the cheerful huskies who can't wait to go on an exciting trip through snow-covered forest, over hills and frozen lakes and swamps with you. You'll get some instructions and after that hopp on the runners of your sled and off you go! You'll share a sled in pairs and can take turns driving. Lunch will be served back at the lodge. Look forward to a lovingly prepared dinner in the evening and then take a few steps into the darkness to search for the Northern Lights if the forecast looks good.

Day 3: Night-time snowshoeing with chances for Northern Lights
Today, after breakfast, you can spend the day entirely at your own pace. How about exploring the area by yourself? Snowshoes and Sami skis are available free of charge during your stay. You can also add various activities for an extra charge (see "Extras") or visit the "Arctic Highways" art gallery, which is hosting an exhibition featuring 12 indigenous Arctic artists (subject to availability). Have lunch and dinner at the lodge before strapping on your snowshoes for a 2.5-hour night-time hike. It's a truly special feeling to be out in the dark, surrounded by nature. On a clear night, countless stars and the moon will light your way and with a bit of luck, you might even see the Northern Lights. Along the way, you will stop to enjoy the peaceful silence over a cup of coffee by the open fire.

Day 4: Departure
The last day starts with breakfast before you unfortunately have to pack your things and say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to Umeå airport or Vindeln train station, from where you will start your journey home with many new, incomparable memories in your luggage.

Accommodation:
The lodge is located in a small village in the wilderness of Northern Lapland and directly on the quiet river Umeå. The standard accommodation on this trip is double rooms in the eco-hotel or small cabins for up to four people. These are equipped with comfortable beds, toilet and shower with towels. Each double room has a TV, kettle, tea and coffee. The cabins have a small kitchenette and, in addition to a double bed that can be pushed apart to make two single beds, a sofa bed. Wifi is available throughout the premises. All rooms and cabins are non-smoking.
During your stay you can use Sami ski and snowshoes for free.
If you wish, you can spend a night in an Aurora tree house (extra charge, see "Extras").

Note:
To be allowed to drive a dog sled themselves, children must generally be at least 15 years old, 155 cm tall and weigh 50 kg. Children aged between 9 and 15 who are at least 120 cm tall may sit alone on a sled driven by an adult. Otherwise, children must sit on the sled alongside an adult. If you are travelling with several children, please contact us before booking.
