Christmas holidays in Finnish Lapland: the itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Lapland
After your arrival at Kittilä airport or Kolari railway station, you will be taken to your resort, where you can check in and recover from your journey. Afterwards, a delicious dinner awaits you in the restaurant. Depending on your arrival time, you can pick up your warm winter clothes in the evening or the following morning. Catering begins with dinner tonight and ends with breakfast on the day of departure.

Over the following days, you will take part in a variety of differenct activities. These will be spread evenly throughout your stay - you will receive the exact schedule at check-in at reception. Depending on how many nights you have booked, the activities may be more or less spread out (stays of 4 to 5 nights are available). Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are served in the hotel restaurant.

Husky Experience:
Meet our cheerful huskies and see their excitement as they get ready to run! Their happy barks and wagging tails set the mood as you get into the spirit of the adventure. After a short introduction and safety briefing, your husky experience begins. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as your professional musher drives the sled, one family per team for a truly personal and fun experience for everyone! The 5–6 km route takes you through beautiful snowy landscapes, offering a perfect mix of fun, teamwork, and Lapland magic. Duration of the program is 1 h + possible transfers from your resort.

Reindeer Experience:
Meet Lapland’s gentle reindeer and experience a piece of true northern tradition. Learn fun facts about reindeer herding, visit a historic museum to discover stories from the old days, and try your hand at throwing a suopunki, the Lappish lasso, just like the local herders do! Then settle into a sleigh for a short reindeer ride through the beautiful Lapland scenery. Wrapped in warm blankets, you can simply sit back and enjoy the gentle rhythm of the reindeer as you admire the peaceful winter landscape. Duration of the program is 1 h + possible transfers from your resort.

Santa Visit with Snowfun Activities:
Experience the magic of Christmas as you visit Santa in his cozy Lapland home, one family at a time for a truly personal moment. A friendly elf will guide each family to Santa’s secret cabin, where you can share your Christmas wishes in a heartwarming private meeting. Every child will receive a small gift from Santa himself to take home as a special memory. While waiting for your turn, have fun outdoors with a variety of snow activities! Try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, play snow football, and let the little ones ride mini snowmobiles. Laughter, rosy cheeks, and snowy adventures make this day one to remember for the whole family. Duration of the program is 2 h + possible transfers from your resort.

Snowmobile Experience:
Get ready for an exciting adventure through Lapland’s snowy landscapes! After a short driving and safety introduction, you’ll head out to explore the sparkling winter surroundings on a guided snowmobile safari. Adults drive their own snowmobiles, while children travel safely in a snowmobile sleigh pulled by the guide. The route is around 10–15 km long, perfect distance to enjoy the fun and freedom of snowmobiling at an easy, family-friendly pace. Admire the views and share the joy of this unforgettable Lapland experience together. Please note that you have to be at least 18 years old and own a valid driving licence to drive a snowmobile. Duration of the program is 2 h.

Day 4/5: Farewell & journey home
After a final breakfast or lunch, your journey in Lapland comes to an end. You will be transferred to Kittilä airport or Kolari railway station. During your journey home, you can reminisce about the memories you have made in Finland.

Accommodation:
You will stay at Harriniva Adventure Resort or Jeris Lakeside Resort. The hotels are located near picturesque Muonio and are surrounded by beautiful nature, making them a perfect base for your time in Lapland. Included is accommodation in a standard room (based on an occupancy of 2 persons) with private toilet and shower. The hotel sauna can be used free of charge. Each resort also has a hotel restaurant, where meals are served. Under "Extras" you can choose from various room categories and cabins (at an extra charge).

Important note:
To drive a snowmobile, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving licence. The price includes insurance for the snowmobile with a self-liability of max. € 1200,- per snowmobile. Children ride in a sled behind the guide's snowmobile.

You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The double rooms in Hotel Harriniva have two twin beds and are authentic and very cosy with their wooden furnishings. The standard rooms are equipped with a seating area and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and hairdryer. This accommodation is located in the main building of the Harriniva Hotel. Standard rooms with an additional bunk bed (children only) or another single bed are available for families or small groups. Wi-Fi is available.

Arctic Glass Suite

The Arctic Glass Suite combines Finnish design with the charm of log wood and big windows that offer spectacular views of the river, the Arctic sky and hopefully the Northern Lights. It has a cosy lounge area, a bathroom and a private sauna where you can relax after an eventful day. With a double or twin bed for two adults and a sofa bed that can accommodate one adult or two children, the suite is ideal for small families or couples. Arctic Sky Nest Jeris

The 30 sqm Arctic Sky Nest is perfect if you are looking for a combination of Finnish design, comfort, and the breathtaking beauty of nature. With a large window, you have a great view of the night sky and, with a bit of luck, you can watch the Northern Lights directly from your double or twin bed. The nests are equipped with a private bathroom with shower and a sofa bed for two additional persons, and offer all the amenities you need for your stay. Electric curtains, which you can raise as you wish, provide privacy. Also included is the daily access to the Arctic Sauna World, featuring a selection of different saunas and the opportunity for ice bathing. This is within walking distance of your Arctic Sky Nest.

Cabin C Jeris

This is the largest log cabin at the Jeris site. It has 2 bedrooms downstairs with 2 beds in each and an open sleeping area in the form of an open loft with 3 beds, and thus offers space for up to 7 people. There is a fireplace and a private sauna that is perfect for relaxing after cold winter days exploring the wilderness. There is also a living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom with shower and a toilet. The hut is within walking distance of the main building, the hotel Jeris.

Cabin A Jeris

You will move into your own log cabin, which becomes your own personal retreat. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere (except for one cabin that doesn't have a fireplace) and you can relax in your private sauna in the evenings. The cabin has a sleeping alcove with two beds, a seating area, a kitchenette, a bathroom with shower and a toilet. A sofa bed provides space for one more adult or two children. The cabins are within walking distance of the main building at the Jeris resort.

The double rooms of the Hotel Jeris are styled in the popular modern Finnish wilderness aesthetic and look very traditional with lots of wood! Close to the reception, you will find the Wilderness Rooms with loft, which have been decorated in a wilderness theme - you'll feel right at home here! Signature Dinner Experience

Look forward to a dinner at Restaurant Jierra on the picturesque shores of the frozen lake at the Jeris Resort’s Arctic Sauna World. This experience combines Finland’s distinctive sauna culture with authentic Lappish flavours in a pleasant lakeside atmosphere. The evening begins at Arctic Sauna World, where you will be welcomed by your sauna host and enjoy a refreshing Arctic aperitif at the ice bar. Aurora Excursion by Car

Search for the magical Northern Lights on a car or minivan journey through the Arctic night. With an experienced guide, you will head for the best places to observe the famous Aurora Borealis. Your guide uses the latest weather and Northern Lights forecasts to flexibly adjust the route and find the best viewing conditions. Enjoy a hot drink during the three-hour tour and let yourself be enchanted by the marvellous landscape. Although we cannot guarantee the appearance of the Northern Lights, it is still a special experience to explore Lapland at night. Short husky tour

Experience dog sledding with this husky tour, which is perfect for families and dog lovers. After a warm welcome at the husky farm and an introduction and safety briefing, you embark on an unforgettable ride through the beautiful snow-covered landscape. Adults and children over 12 years may drive a sled in pairs (driver/passenger - roles will be swapped halfway through), while families with younger children take a seat in the front of the guide's sled. Reindeer Aurora Experience

You will go in search of the Northern Lights and experience a unique sleigh ride at night through the winter landscape of Lapland. You will be pulled along by reindeer whilst sitting comfortably in the sleigh with a warm blanket. If the conditions are favorable, look out for the dancing lights in the night sky, as you will have a very good chance of spotting them, being far away from artificial light sources. The entire excursion takes about 2 hours. The reindeer sleigh ride covers 3 km. Please note that the activities follow a fixed weekly program. This means that not every activity is offered every day. Es hat uns sehr gut in Lappland gefallen und wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Leider haben wir keine Polarlichter gesehen, das nächste Mal klappt es vielleicht. Der Guide von HARRINIVA hat seine Sache sehr gur gemacht. Es war für uns eine wunderschöne Woche mit vielen unvergesslichen Momenten.

Hallo, es war ein Wundervoller Urlaub. Vom ersten Tag der Betreuung bis zum nach Hause fliegen hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Schnelle Antwortzeiten, Spezialwünsche wurden umgesetzt. Das Rahmenprogramm wurde vom Hotel verschoben, was uns am Ende besser gefallen hat. So konnten wir uns in Ruhe steigen und an die Kälte -34 gewöhnen. Kleine Gruppe mit 5 anderen, einen Guide der auf alle Wünsche eingegangen ist. Habe lange nicht so viel gelacht wie bei Ihm. Als Tipp für alle Unerfahrene. Jegliche Art von Brille hat bei uns versagt. Diese liefen nach 2x Ausatmen direkt an und froren fest. Vielleicht wäre eine Skibrille von Vorteil -nicht probiert. Eine sehr gute Gesichtsmaske mit Buff drunter ist von Vorteil, mit der Zeit friert der Atmen an und die Maske wird mehr und mehr zum "Panzer". Versagen der Elektronik ist das grösste Problem für alle diejenigen, die ihre Eindrücke festhalten möchten. Handy 10min im Stand, Gopro hero 6 18min Hundeschlichten, Spiegelreflex Kamera 21min imStand . Genügend Akkus mitbringen und nah am Körper tragen. Polarlichter konnten wir geniessen. Bitte vorab über die richtige Kameraeinstellung informieren. Taschentücher im Maxipack, es wird die Nase laufen. Würde die Anbieter weiter empfehlen und auch wieder buchen. Danke für den tollen Urlaub

Das Angebot hielt was es versprochen hat. Wunderbare Touren, alle perfekt organisiert, absolutes High light war die Ausfahrt mit den Huskys, so freundlich, so schnell, so ein spannender und traumhafter Ausflug, auch weil das Wetter fantastisch war! Das Hotel ist schon etwas abgewohnt, die Hütte in der wir wohnten aber war sehr gemütlich und herrlich gelegen.Das Personal sehr nett, das Essen reichlich und sehr schmackhaft. Der Ausblick von der Saunalandschaft ist atemberaubend. Diese Reise kann man gerne jedem empfehlen.

15.02.2020-22.02.2020 - Wunderschöne Reise mit perfekter Organisation

Wir waren zu 5...Eltern+Kind 9 Jahre und Grosseltern und durften eine fantastische Reise erleben. Die Organisation war sehr gut...angefangen von den Informationen vor der Reise bis hin zu einem erstklassigen reibungslosen Ablauf der ganzen Reise...großes Kompliment an den Veranstalter. Unsere Hütte war super gemütlich, wenn auch etwas weit weg vom Haupthaus...was aber den Vorteil hatte, dass man das viele gute Essen bei einem Spaziergang gleich wieder verdauen konnte. Die Hütte hatte eine eigene Sauna, welche wir auch gerne genutzt haben nach den schönen Schneeschuh-,Ski-, Husky- oder Schneemobiltouren und einen Kamin. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr schön an einem See gelegen und weitläufig und auch für Kinder schön gestaltet. Es gibt einen Snowtube-Tunnel und überall stehen Schlitten...unser Kind war rundum die Uhr beschäftigt und hat den vielen Schnee genossen. Auch die Ausflüge mit unserem Guide Toini haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Alles in allem war es wirklich ein rundum gelungener Urlaub, welcher leider viel zu schnell vorbei war und an dem wir gerne zurückdenken. Absolut gigantisch und empfehlenswert. Die Reise war seit langem das Beste, was mir passieren konnte. Wer das perfekte Maß an Ruhe, einer unendlichen Weite der Natur, die Liebe zu den Tieren und den Abenteuerspaß sucht, der ist hier genau richtig. Für mich war es die perfekte Mischung. Vielen Dank dem Reiseteam für die super Organisation und die unkomplizierte Buchung. Bei Rückfragen wurde auch immer sehr schnell geantwortet und auch die Beratung zu den unterschiedlichen Reisen war sehr hilfreich. Vor Ort mussten wir uns um nichts kümmern, wurden herzlichst begrüßt und rundum versorgt. Die Guides sind um jeden Reisenden äußerst bemüht und kümmern sich um jedes noch so kleine Problemchen, was auftreten könnte. Man ist auf jeden Fall in sehr guten Händen und kann den Urlaub in vollen Zügen genießen. Ich kann die Reise nur jedem empfehlen, der den Winterspaß sucht, gerne einmal mit Rentieren und Huskys unterwegs sein möchte und trotz eines ereignisreichen Tages nachts noch Polarlichter suchen gehen möchte - das ist tatsächlich ein Naturspektakel, dass man live gesehen haben muss. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und meinen kleinen Hundetrupp besuchen. Bis bald hoffentlich.

Eine wunderschöne Reise! Der veranstalte Hey Husky hat alles sehr gut organisiert und von der ersten Anfrage bis zum Ende wurde sich um alles gekümmert. Auf individuelle Wünsche wird eingegangen und man versucht alles, diese auch zu realisieren. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Einfach nur WOW, eine unvergesslich schöne Reise in ein traumhaftes magisches Land. Die Aktivitäten, Unterkunft alles war einfach super. Tolles abwechslungsreiches Programm, klasse Guides, leckeres Essen. Der Veranstalter Hey Husky macht einen super Job und es war alles perfekt organisiert. Die Landschaft, Menschen, Natur ist unbeschreiblich. Ein richtiger Traumurlaub!

Ich hatte eine unvergessliche, traumhafte Woche im Hotel Harriniva inkl. einer Nacht in einer Wildnishütte. Ganz alleine angereist traf ich auf eine tolle Gruppe. Wir hatten zusammen schöne Erlebnisse wie die 2-tägige Hundeschlittentour, die Schneemobiltour und einen Tag auf der Rentierfarm mit einer abenteuerlichen Schlittenfahrt. Auch konnten wir die Nordlichter bestaunen. Alles in Allem ein perfekt organisierter Urlaub mit authentischen Guides und dazu noch fast perfektes Wetter mit einer spektakulären Nordlichtshow. Perfekter geht es nicht. Vielen Dank für den fantastischen Urlaub! Ich empfehle heyHusky sehr gerne weiter.
