Running from 30th December to the 5th January, spend this New Year in style and opt for one of these incredible tours which are the perfect blend of comfort and adventure, and are ideal for those who may be new to husky sledding or winter holidays.
Short daytimes (approximately 10.00-15.00hrs) will allow you to witness the beauty that Lapland has to offer as you drive your very own dog sled team through landscapes including colossal mountain peaks, mysterious forests, deep valleys, deserted tundra and frozen lakes. The arctic light during this time will illuminate your way with an endless trail of dazzling crystals.
During the evenings there should be a good opportunity to take in the breath-taking and magical display provided by the Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights.
You will arrive at Hemavan airport in Lapland, where you will transfer to a car for the remaining 80km of your journey out to your warm, comfortable lodge at Umnäs. As soon as you reach your final destination you will be taken to meet your four-legged husky friends who will be very excited to get to know you! If you need to borrow some winter clothing (temperatures could go as low as -40C during your tour!) then this will be arranged, after which you can enjoy a delicious meal. Your guide will give talk to you about the days ahead and provide instruction on the skills that you will need to mush your very own dog sled!
Remainder of your Tour
During the remaining days of your tour you will take day trips into the surrounding wilderness, experiencing the exhilaration of driving your own sled powered by the soft thud of powerful paws on the unbroken snow. You will be able to form a bond with your huskies, learning how to harness them and work them as well as caring for their needs. Breakfasts and dinners will be consumed in the comfort of your lodge, and lunches will be provided while exploring the icy trails. New Year’s Eve
A sumptuous 3 course dinner awaits you on New Year’s Eve, where you will be able to visit the quaint and charming village pub. At midnight enjoy a glass of champagne and watch as either spectacular fireworks or paper lanterns will light up the arctic skyline.
The next day will leave you at leisure and able to take advantage of the tranquillity of the area to enjoy your favourite pursuits.
On your final day you will be able to say a fond thank you and farewell to your faithful canine friends, before leaving for your journey home, taking with you many fond memories of your time husky sledding in amazing Lapland.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
